Lyon County Water Customers

We have received calls concerning the sales tax change effective 01/01/2023 regarding utility service.  We have verified the following with the KY Department of Revenue.

If you live in a home with ONLY ONE water meter as in the case with the vast majority of our residential customers, nothing is changing for you and no action is needed by you.

If you live in a home with a separate meter for a detached garage or other building AND that garage/building has a separate meter, you may be for this sales tax exemption. Please call our office to discuss. If this applies to you, you will have to come to our office and sign an exemption form.

You do NOT need to come Lyon County Water District to sign a form if you are an existing residential customer unless you have more than one meter, that is not a business.

After 1/1/23, if you move on to our utility service or if you change addresses on our service, we will ask you to sign this form when you fill out paperwork for your new service. Existing customers are grandfathered in at their current address and will not need to sign anything.

If you are a current residential customer of Lyon County Water District, you are currently not paying 6% sales tax and we are not going to start charging you sales tax after 1/1/23.

If you have any further questions, you can call our office at 270-388-0271.
