Due to the recent winter weather event and sub-zero temperatures, we are continuing to experience unusually high-water demand currently. We believe this demand to be due to leak caused by pipes bursting due to the extremely cold temperatures as well as an increase in customer demand. Now that sub-zero wind chill temperatures are no longer present, we believe that it is not necessary to drip faucets.  We also believe there will be numerous leaks reported to us (Lyon County Water District, City of Eddyville & City of Kuttawa) as temperatures rise above 32 degrees. If you have a water leak or see a water at a neighboring property or business, please contact your respective water department office immediately so we can investigate.

Some Water Leak Examples:

Steam coming from the ground

Snow melted & Water in the Melted Area

Water Pouring/Running out from Under the House

Water Coming Out from the Doors of the Residence

Water Meter Spinning- please see our Facebook page Lyon County Kentucky Water District, for a picture of your Master Meter

Please help us look for leaks, by checking for these things. Also, if you are able check your neighbor’s meter if they are not home or are elderly/disabled. Remember to place the water meter lid back on the water meter so it does not freeze tonight.
